WMC Opposition

Each legislative session, WMC opposes criticial legislation designed to protect workers, provide services to Wisconsinites and improve the quality of life in every corner of the state.

Some of the important legislation that would help people in Wisconsin, but WMC opposes.

2007 AB 274: Raises the state minimum wage.

2007 AB 40: Requires proper disposal of waste that contains plychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs, which according research can cause cognitive development delays in children and liver cancer).

2007 SB 210: Closes the "Las Vegas Loophole," which allows corporations to avoid $81 million a year in taxes owed to the people of Wisconsin by opening a post office box "headquarters" in a state, like Nevada, which doesn't tax corporate income.

2007 SB 178: Requires insurance companies to cover treatment for children diagnosed with Autism.

2007 SB 367: Requires all coporations to submit annual statements to the Wisconsin Deparment of Revenue (Corporate Tax Accountability Act).

2007 SB 562: Reduces health care costs and provides health care for all Wisconsinites through "Healthy Wisconsin."

2007 SB 512: Prohibits a company from requiring mandatory overtime for a worker in a health care facility.

2007 SB 219: Protects consumers from excess charges for consumer goods.

2007 SB 375: Ensures mental health insurance parity.

2007 AB 812: Protects individuals who serve as a volunteer firefighter, emergency medical techinician (EMT) or first responder from being fired for temporary absence from work while responding to emergencies.

2007 AB 76: Increases disposal fees for out-state garbage.

2007 AB 133: Requires insurance companies to provide coverage for hearing aids and cochlear implants for children with hearing problems.

2007 AB 157: Sets a statewide greenhouse gas emission limit.

2007 AB 160: Requires an employer to resonably accomodate an employee who is pregnant or breast-feeding her child.

2007 AB 179: Provides health insurance coverage for wigs for cancer patients.
